The Little Pamet River begins in Longnook Valley and Higgins Hollow, east of Rt 6. It flows under Rt 6 and into the valley between Corn Hill to the north and Toms Hill to the south.

map The Paomet (also called Pamet) was a tribe of native americans living near the Little Pamet and Pamet Rivers in the 1620s. The historic Wampanoag native american people called the area Pamet or Payomet. Their language was part of the large Algonquian family.

Eventually the Little Pamet River crosses under Corn Hill Road just before the beach parking lot, and flows toward Pamet Harbor.

It flows between the old railroad bed and the Corn Hill Beach dunes until it joins the Pamet River flowing out to the bay.

Birding

The Little Pamet River is a top location for bird watching in the State of Massachusetts. It is profiled on the United States Geological Service (USGS) Wellfleet Topological map, and is located at the latitude and longitude coordinates of 41.9995479 and -70.0791907 at an elevation of 3 feet.

Fishing

Little Pamet River is a stream located just 1.6 miles from Truro center. Fishermen will find a variety of fish including largemouth bass, brook trout and brown trout here. So grab your favorite fly fishing rod and reel, and head out to Little Pamet River. If all goes well, the sea trout will be hooked by your larvae, the coaster trout will be biting your spawn sacs and the largemouth will be grabbing your spawn sacs.
